ROLE SUMMARY
We are seeking a confident, result-driven, and customer-focused business development associate to support the growth of our microfinance banking business.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, acquiring customers, mobilising deposits, supporting loan growth, managing client relationships, and promoting the bank’s financial products and services to individuals, SMEs, traders, salary earners, and other target customer segments.
This role requires strong communication skills, market awareness, integrity, resilience, and the ability to convert prospects into loyal customers.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Identify, engage, and onboard new customers in line with the bank's growth objectives.
- Promote the bank's products and services, including savings accounts, current accounts, fixed deposits, loans, investment products, and other financial solutions.
- Drive deposit mobilisation, investment mobilisation, and support loan origination within assigned markets and customer segments.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with individuals, SMEs, corporate clients, cooperative societies, market associations, and other key stakeholders.
- Conduct market visits, prospecting activities, client meetings, product presentations, and follow-up engagements to generate new business opportunities.
- Guide customers through account opening, investment onboarding, loan applications, and documentation processes.
- Ensure compliance with Know Your Customer (KYC), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and other regulatory and internal policy requirements.
- Monitor market trends, customer needs, competitor activities, and business opportunities, providing timely feedback and recommendations to management.
- Collaborate with the Credit, Operations, Customer Service, and Compliance teams to ensure efficient service delivery and an excellent customer experience.
- Achieve assigned targets for customer acquisition, deposit mobilisation, investment mobilisation, loan bookings, and portfolio growth.
- Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, sales activities, business pipelines, and performance reports using approved systems and tools.
- Represent the Bank professionally at all times, upholding its values and enhancing its brand reputation.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Banking & Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 3–5 years' proven experience in business development, sales, relationship management, or marketing within a bank, microfinance bank, asset management firm, fintech, insurance, or other financial institution.
- Demonstrated track record of achieving sales, deposit mobilisation, investment mobilisation, or business growth targets.
- Good understanding of financial products and services, including savings, loans, investments, and wealth management solutions.
- Professional certifications (e.g., CIS, CIBN, ICAN, ACCA, or relevant certifications) will be an added advantage.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements, including KYC/AML/CFT guidelines, is an added advantage.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM/digital sales tools.
